- Welcome to Iowa State University. My name is Linda Wild and I am the Program Coordinator
for Interdepartmental Genetics and Interdepartmental Toxicology, both of which are graduate
programs at Iowa State University.
- I have worked for Interdepartmental Genetics since 1992 and Interdepartmental Toxicology since
1997. My job is to work with prospective students, helping them complete their applications and
maintaining academic files on present graduate students. I do some marketing of our programs. I send out
communications and watch over the administration budgets for our programs. If I can assist you in
any way regarding applying to graduate school at Iowa State University, please contact me. I think
Iowa State offers excellent opportunities for advanced education and training.
- For prospective students, we pledge to be as honest as possible in the application process. Sometimes
this means we have to give you bad news, but we will try to not keep you waiting to hear the outcome of
your application. All domestic applications are reviewed upon completion. A decision regarding
acceptability will be made within 2 weeks (for acceptable applications this leads to interviews and
then a decision immediately following interviews as to financial offers). All international applications
are reviewed during February. Decisions regarding admission are announced on March 1.
- When I am not at work, I like to walk with my dog Bella (Border Collies rule)
, read (unless its a textbook),
and watch Discovery, the Science Channel, and Animal Planet on TV.
I live in a small community, Randall, Iowa, north of Ames and am involved in various community organizations. I have a BS degree
in Biology (Summer 09) from Iowa State. I completed a graduate degree in Community and Regional Planning (MCRP '97)
at Iowa State so am familiar with the graduate student process here. I like going to class even at my "advanced
age" but am not fond of in-class tests. I take 2 or 3 classes every year at Iowa State.
I have my 40th high school reunion this summer (2009). I grew up on a farm in Iowa (Marion), joined the U.S.
Air Force (enlisted) and saw some of the world, lived in England for a couple of years, did some time in the Iowa Air
National Guard, and began working for Iowa State University in Admissions in 1988. Oh, and I like dinosaurs! and bicycles.
